Naveen Jain Keeping Philanthropy in Business

Intelius co-founder Naveen Jain knows how to keep his business strong. He created the firm in 1996 as an electronic commerce business that featured an impressive portfolio of products and services including criminal checks, background checks, identity verification, and the identity theft protection service IDWatch. Naveen Jain recognizes that running a successful company entails determining the problem and coming up with the most effective solution. According to the Intelius executive, the same technique goes in running a well-organized philanthropic program; no wonder Jain has also become so triumphant in carrying out his charitable endeavors. In fact, his passion for charity extends not only to the company but to his employees as well. Bellevue, Washington-based Intellius has been working with nonprofit organizations by way of supporting programs geared towards the improvement of youth and family issues, healthcare, and education. The company’s philanthropy program has helped dozens of local community organizations including Olive Crest, Youthcare, Eastside Domestic Violence, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Kindering Center, the University of Washington, Boys and Girls Club, Overlake Service League, United Way, Tree House, and Hope Link. Intelius is also helping national organizations like the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) and the Children’s Hospital Circle of Care. In 2008, the company donated almost $210,000 to over 12 local and national nonprofit organizations. Naveen Jain sees the need for and the value of volunteering energy, time, and resources in helping organizations accomplish their goals. Thus, Intelius developed programs that encourage and support philanthropy among its employees through its Employee Volunteer Program, which gives 12 hours of paid time off each year to employees who spend their time volunteering to charitable organizations; and the Employee Giving Program, which matches employee cash contributions to eligible organizations.
